Ithaca has the green light for development. But its future will totally depend on how is does this and what direction The City's citizens will choose.

Ithaca is accessible and within easy driving distance of many of the major Northeastern cities, including New York City and Toronto.

International students and their families comprise 15% of Cornell University. From the local Tibetan Festival to the many Asian markets, Ithaca embraces the international community as a source of enrichment.

A center of the silent movie industry, Ithaca continues it’s creative legacy with the Sagan Planet Walk, a true to scale model of the solar system that leads from the award-winning downtown Commons to the Sciencenter, a hands on science and technology museum. " End of Cornell's credit.

Here from this view you get a greater depth of how Ithaca is becoming numger, and how Schools at Cornell University are using this fact to attract a better grade of students to their various schools.

None the less, and the central factor why I am doing this blog is due to my interest in attracting major corporate headquarters to the city itself with the following criterion:

ONE: At least 1, 600 employees.

TWO: Average salries $27.500.00

This is combination of how Ithaca is now developing will boost the present profiles in which other outside publications are view my community.

The corporate headquaters interest will be covered in detail in another blog.

Then from Country Home OnLine Magazine Spring / Summer 2007 we get ......

“Over 16 percent of Ithaca residents (or 5,000 people) walk to work – the highest percentage in the nation. Combine that with bike riders, mass transit users and home office workers and Ithaca has the greenest commuters.”

Count me in that statistic. I recently got rid of a second car and now walk everyday. I can’t wait for warmer weather so that this bike of mine can finally get some additional mileage. How were the results figured out?

“The Best Green Places study which is based on data discovered by Sperling’s BestPlaces examines 24 data metrics in 5 major categories — including air and watershed quality, mass transit usage, power usage, farmers markets, organic producers, and number of green-certified buildings — to determine which metro areas are the best places to live a green life. Sperling’s BestPlaces ranked the 379 major metropolitan areas, as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau. Over 80 percent of all U.S. residents live in these 379 metro areas.”

Very cool. So congrats Ithaca! I chose you for the wineries close by; but you’ve since turned my heart green. Let’s hope your eco-goodness spreads contagious to other places across the U.S. Oh, and Burlington, watch out. We’re coming for you next year!

Ithaca, N.Y., is No. 1 'emerging' city

Charlottesville, Va., is the best place to live in the USA, according to Cities Ranked & Rated. Another college town, Ithaca, N.Y. — home to Cornell University — is the best "emerging" area. (Related story: 'Mr. Jefferson would be proud' — Charlottesville is No. 1)

Cascadilla Creek Gorge in downtown Ithaca runs from the center of town to the Cornell University campus.

The book's main list is based on 331 metropolitan statistical areas designated by the federal government. The areas could extend beyond city, county and even state borders.

Their top 10:

•No. 1, Ithaca. "The town is attractive, activities are plentiful and education attainment is high," but "lots of snow and precipitation."
